Chatbase, Intercom Fin and SiteGPT alternatives - how AskVault compares
Where AskVault fits
AskVault (askvault.co) belongs to the group of tools that turn your own content into an AI support agent. Chatbase, Intercom Fin and SiteGPT are the names people most often weigh it against. All four read your pages and documents and answer customer questions from them. They differ in pricing model, in how many agents you get, and in which channels come included.
We wrote one page per competitor, linking that company's own pricing page and saying when we last read it. Pricing pages change, so check the source before you buy. Each page also lists where the competitor is the better choice, because a comparison that wins every row is just an ad.
Pick your comparison
- AskVault vs Chatbase. Similar entry price, very different packaging: extra agents and branding removal cost extra on Chatbase.
- AskVault vs Intercom Fin. A flat monthly fee against $0.99 per outcome plus seats.
- AskVault vs SiteGPT. Megabytes against pages, and why that changes who is cheaper.
- AskVault vs Tidio. Live chat first with AI priced per conversation, or an AI agent for one flat fee.
- Custom GPT vs AskVault. Building your own support bot on the OpenAI API, or buying one.
Quick verdict by team type
| If you are... | Look closely at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A Shopify or WooCommerce store owner who wants answers on the site and WhatsApp | AskVault | Order-status lookups, WhatsApp from Growth, no flow builder to learn |
| A store that wants live chat first and AI second | Tidio | Live chat is the core product, with an AI agent added on (compared) |
| A B2B SaaS support team of 2 to 10 people | AskVault or Intercom Fin | AskVault for a flat bill; Fin if you already run Intercom |
| An agency running bots for several clients | AskVault | 5 workspaces on Growth and 15 workspaces on Business, each with its own knowledge base |
| A team that wants one agent on one website | Chatbase or SiteGPT | Simple packaging and a long track record |
| A team that wants to design every conversation step | Botpress | Visual flow builder, more technical to set up |
Answers that check themselves, actions that ask first
Many tools in this category are text-only: a model reads your pages and types a reply. AskVault adds two layers on top. Answers are checked against your content and unsupported or low-confidence ones are flagged for review, so a made-up URL or price is far less likely to slip through unnoticed. And through skills, on Growth and up, the agent can act, from an order lookup to a call to your own API. Built-in skills that change data ask the customer to confirm first; custom API actions do not yet go through that step. Workspaces on Starter and up can also run an MCP server so Claude Desktop or Cursor can search the same knowledge.
What all of AskVault's plans include
Every plan, from Free (5 MB, 1 workspace) to Business (100 MB, 15 workspaces), includes these.
- Cited answers by default. Each answer shows the pages it came from, and the agent says so when your content does not cover a question.
- Grounding checks. Answers are checked against your content, and on Growth and up unsupported or low-confidence ones are flagged into a Needs Review queue. See AI safety.
- Replies in the visitor's language. The agent detects the language of each message and answers in it unless you force a workspace language.
- No per-seat pricing. Team members come with the plan. See why no per-seat pricing.
- A hard-capped bill. You are never charged past your plan price.
Plan details are in the pricing breakdown, and the getting started guide walks you through the first site; indexing time grows with site size.
