How to connect Zendesk to AskVault

Last updated: · 2 min read

What this integration does today

Help Center import. Your Zendesk Help Center articles become knowledge your agent answers from, with citations linking to each article. Full guide: Ingest knowledge from Zendesk.

Not available today:

  • Connecting with OAuth ("Sign in with Zendesk").
  • Automatic sync of articles.
  • Creating Zendesk tickets from AskVault conversations. For human handoff, use AskVault's Live Chat inbox.

Setup

  1. In Zendesk Admin Center, open the Zendesk API settings, turn on token access and create an API token.
  2. In AskVault, open Knowledge > Add Source > Zendesk.
  3. Enter your Zendesk email, the API token and your subdomain (the part before .zendesk.com).
  4. Set how many articles to import (1 to 500; 100 by default) and click Import Articles.

Test it by asking your agent a question answered in your Help Center; the answer should cite the article.

Refreshing

Run the import again whenever your Help Center changes. Changed articles are re-indexed; unchanged ones are left alone. Articles you delete in Zendesk stay in AskVault until you delete them in the Knowledge page.

Limits

  • Plan. Business and above.
  • Articles per import. 500.
  • Languages and brands. No selection; articles are imported as Zendesk's API returns them for your account.

FAQ

Does this work with Zendesk Suite?

Yes, as long as you have a Help Center (Zendesk Guide) with published articles.

Will this interfere with my Zendesk bots?

No. The import only reads articles.
