The sdr_lead_qualifier skill - qualified leads into HubSpot
What the skill does
Growth+Sales teams want the hand-raisers from chat in their CRM with enough context to prioritise them. sdr_lead_qualifier does that for HubSpot.
When the conversation shows a visitor is a real prospect, the AI calls the skill with what it has learned:
| Field | Values |
|---|---|
| Required | |
| Company size | Number of employees, required |
| Buying stage | evaluating, implementing, browsing or support, required |
| Budget band | under 5k, 5k to 25k, 25k to 100k, 100k plus, or unknown |
| Name | Optional; the first name is sent |
AskVault then creates or updates the HubSpot contact for that email with these properties: firstname, company_size, buying_intent, budget_range, and lifecyclestage set to lead.
Set it up
- Connect HubSpot under Integrations › HubSpot.
- In HubSpot, create contact properties named
company_size,buying_intentandbudget_rangeif you want those values stored. - Open the Skills page, find sdr_lead_qualifier and turn it on. It is off by default.
- Test it in the chat playground with a message such as "We're a 250-person company evaluating support tools, budget around 30k."
Company-size threshold. By default, only companies with at least 100 employees are sent to HubSpot; smaller ones are skipped. Change it by adding {"min_company_size": 20} (or any number) to the skill's configuration JSON on the Skills page.
Two safeguards: the same email is sent to HubSpot at most once per 24 hours, and adding "dry_run": true to the configuration JSON lets you test without writing to HubSpot.
How the AI gathers the details
There is no question script. The AI picks up company size, stage and budget from what the visitor says, and asks for missing required details where it fits naturally. To change its approach, add a line to your system prompt, for example "Ask for company size before discussing pricing."
Pair it with collect_lead, which saves the contact in AskVault's own Leads list, and demo_scheduler to offer a meeting.
Limits
- HubSpot only. No Salesforce or Pipedrive.
- Fixed fields. The five fields above; no custom questions, scoring or field mapping. The only filter is the company-size threshold.
- One update per email per day. Repeat calls within 24 hours reuse the first result.
Common pitfalls
Values missing in HubSpot. The contact properties do not exist in your HubSpot account. Create company_size, buying_intent and budget_range.
The skill asks to reconnect HubSpot. The connection expired. Reconnect under Integrations › HubSpot.
Nothing happens. Check the skill is turned on and your plan is Growth or above.
