Notifications
Where notifications appear
Notifications appear in the bell at the top of the dashboard, with an unread count. Click one to open the page it refers to. Mark all read clears the count.
There are no notification settings, per-event channels, quiet hours or digests today.
What creates a notification
Conversations and leads (to the workspace owner):
- Conversation escalated. The AI handed a conversation to a human with the escalate_to_human skill. A visitor clicking "Talk to a human" does not create one.
- New lead captured. The AI captured a visitor's contact details.
- Automation rule fired. An automation rule with the Send notification action and the email channel. Despite the channel name, this arrives in the bell, not by email.
Your team (to the person mentioned):
- Mentioned in a note. A teammate @mentioned you in an internal note.
Knowledge (to the workspace owner):
- Indexing finished or updated. How many pages are ready.
- Indexing problems. No pages could be indexed, some pages failed, or the plan's content limit was reached. At most once every 24 hours each.
Account (to the account owner):
- Message-credit usage. At 70%, 90% and 100% of your monthly credits, once per billing cycle each.
- Credits used up. Your agent can't answer until credits are added.
- Workspace notices, for example a paused Free workspace, or a chat model your plan can't use (at most once every 24 hours).
There are no notifications for SLA risk or breach, customer replies, hot leads, demo bookings, channel errors, thumbs-down feedback, payments or API keys.
Only the message-credit alerts at 90% and 100% are also sent by email, to the account owner. Everything else is in the bell only.
Slack and other tools
To get alerts in Slack, Discord or another tool, use the Webhooks page:
- Create an incoming webhook in Slack or Discord.
- On the Webhooks page, add an endpoint with that URL.
- Subscribe it to the events you want, such as
conversation.escalated,conversation.escalation_missedorlead.captured.
AskVault recognises URLs for 3 integrations: Slack and Discord get each event as a readable message, and Google Sheets Apps Script URLs get a flat payload. Other URLs get the standard signed JSON payload. Webhooks need Growth or above. See the webhooks reference for every event.
Common pitfalls
A teammate doesn't see escalation notifications. Escalation notifications go to the workspace owner only. Use a webhook to alert the whole team.
No notification when a visitor clicked Talk to a human. That path doesn't create one. Subscribe a webhook to conversation.escalated, which does fire for it.
Expected an email for an automation rule. The notify action's email channel creates a bell notification for the owner, not an email.
FAQ
Can I get notified on my phone?
Through Slack or Discord on your phone, using a webhook as described above.
Does the notification show the customer's message?
Escalation notifications show the reason the AI gave. Lead notifications show the lead's name and email. Click through for the full conversation.
Can I unsubscribe from the usage emails?
No. They are account alerts, sent at most once per billing cycle for each threshold.
